Biography:

I am a published professional photographer and digital marketing professional. I own Bertrand1.com Photography and The Marketing Techy and specialize in editorial, street, fashion, beauty, commercial, and event photography as well as online marketing. I spent most of my working career in South Africa, but I have now relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

My published photographs include editorial, commercial, and fashion photos published by the likes of The Sunday Times, Channel24, Sunday Independent, IOL, Media24, GoDaddy, Johannesburg InYour Pocket, DKNY, and Dior.

I started my career as Mechanical Engineer at CRPM in Bloemfontein doing plastic product designs, operating rapid prototyping machines, 3D printers and 3D scanners.

Then I realized I was truly interested in management and specifically marketing management.

I moved to ZF of South Africa where I worked my way up from Product Support Engineer to General Manager responsible for automatic transmissions in sub-Sahara Africa and South Africa. I also picked up valuable work experience in Germany, UK and the Netherlands during this time. My customers included all the big OEM's in the automotive industry.

Then I moved on to become Marketing Manager at Duraset (a business unit of Aveng) with customers including all the big mining houses. I also registered a patent for a new mining roof bolt design to improve mining safety.

Next, I was Divisional Manager (Hi-Tech) division at Toolquip and Allied. The division looks after products like CNC machines and automated inspection equipment. Brand names include Renishaw, Baty, and Mitutoyo amongst others. I gained a lot of technical experience with vision and camera-based systems through working with vision-based inspection equipment.

Since 2012 I have owned a digital marketing agency and have rolled out marketing campaigns, new websites, and e-commerce websites for many local and international businesses. My photography business has since also been given a separate home from The Marketing Techy and can be found at bertrand1.com. I am currently busy spinning down The Marketing Techy and focusing my efforts on Bertrand1 Photography.
